FOCUS...

John 10:10 says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.”

He's come to steal your joy and rob you of your peace. He’s also come to kill the work of your hands and you. Literally, hello depression, suicide, high-blood pressure, heart attack, stroke and the like*. He's come to destroy the daughters of the Most High God.

There is a way to thwart the schemes of the enemy on your life. Focus. Focus on our Father. Focus on the work He's given you.

In the book of Nehemiah, Nehemiah returns to Jerusalem to rebuild the city’s wall. The wall had been destroyed and the the city remained vulnerable to further attack from their enemies. .

When Nehemiah first began work on the wall, his enemies weren’t too worried. If you’re familiar with the book of Ezra then you know this was not the first attempt at rebuilding the wall. However, as the rebuilding continued they grew concerned. So, they sent a message to Nehemiah to come and meet with them.

Nehemiah knew they were scheming to hurt him and cease the work on the wall. So he sent this message in return: .

“I’m doing a great work; I can’t come down. Why should the work come to a standstill just so I can come down to see you?”

Four times his enemies sent Nehemiah that message and four times his answer was the same.

“I’m doing a great work; I can’t come down. Why should the work come to a standstill just so I can come down to see you?”

If we’re not FOCUSED on the task we’ve been given, he’ll have us off our wall in a blink... playing whack-a-mole with small trivial matters while the important work remains undone. Let’s FOCUS. Eyes off our problems (big or small) and onto our BIGGER Father.
